PDA Associate for International Disaster Response and Refugee Ministry visits Abaco as part of an assessment team — Rev. Edwin González-Castillo

Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas as a Category 5 hurricane on September 1, 2019 and stalled over the islands for 24 hours, causing massive damage. It is reported that 27 lives have been lost.

PDA is working with partners on the ground in the Bahamas to respond to immediate needs with a solidarity grant. Thus far,  this grant has primarily helped evacuees in shelters with emergency needs. We are working with ACT Alliance to plan for long term recovery support.
