Philippines woman

— Ulla Karki, ACT/FCA

I am grateful that we are alive – my child, my husband and me. Nothing else matters. All the things can be replaced. Our house was totally washed out. We were saved because we’d gone to our neighbors’ big, sturdy house. We were very scared after Haiyan. One night, I received a text message that a tsunami was coming and we rushed out into the night and went on a hill. For relief assistance, we have received food, clothes and materials for constructing a new house. I attended a smoked-fish making training. With the women from my village, we will now develop an enterprise and sell smoked fish. All our husbands are fishermen.
